DO NOT PURCHASE HCCMIS INSURANCE

It does appear to be the case that this insurance's go to for denying the claim is due to pre-existing condition. In Nov 2014, we had to take my visiting father to ER per this doctor's suggestion at the clinic where we took him first. He had faster heartbeat than normal, so in order to make sure there was no major issues, we were suggested to take him to the ER for some testworks. Obviously, with such deep concern, I could not have not taken my father to ER, but the less I knew that the insurance I purchased was going to give me an extremely painful time for doing so, and it still is. We filed claim for the ER expenses which came to be $5000 plus. It was denied based on "Pre-existing condition" There was no further explanation in the "Explanation of Benefit" letter we received. Even after calling numerous times and talking with the customer reps requesting the detailed denial letter for reasons why it was pre-existing condition, I never received the denial explanation letter as requested. However, based on my inquiries with the customer reps, I found out that they denied the claim based on the fact that the CT scan showed tuberculosis scar from 20 years ago, which apparently caused the condition leading us to take my dad to hospital. My review of Medical records and our family doctor's review of medical records clarifies that the reason my father felt sick was due to long flight which he had never taken in his life before. Further, the insurance was effective when my father's situation started. So, I went ahead filed an appeal for our claim, which needless to mention was denied again due to pre-existing condition. They claimed that they sent me this letter in the end of May 2015, which I have yet to receive. After my multiple request to send me this letter, I still haven't yet received it. I know that I have 60 days after their appeal denial to file a second appeal, but it seems that they are trying to have these days pass by giving me a run around for the letter. I am still waiting for this letter to file a second appeal. I am wondering though if it is even worth it to file second appeal, and if I should have my lawyer serve them the documents stating I am suing for fraud! Any of you guys have had luck with your appeal or using lawyer to sue HCCMIS for their scam?

I had the HCCMIS International Student health insurance. I became pregnant after having the insurance.

HCC denied me coverage for some $8000 worth of expenses saying that there were routine tests. I appealed and I was denied, and I appealed a second time and told them that if I was denied again I was going to go for an independent external review. After this they covered all the expenses.

Check if your state has a free independent external review. I am in NJ and i found that this was a service available to residents

Same thing happened to me. Now the health center I went to wants 10000 in debt because my insurance wouldn't cover for Pre-existing condition that wasn't even there.

I sent my appeal letter and still they denied me. Did you ever get it resolved?

New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance - Consumer Inquiry and Response Center ("CIRC").

There website says they will pay for one a year, I submitted all my paperwork at least a dozen times. Every time I call them they want additional paper work, what more can I send? This company is the biggest rip-off they charge you up to $500.00 per month and do not stand behind their benefits. Go somewhere else, this company is the biggest scam! They will leave you on hold for twenty minutes and then transfer you, sometimes you accidentally get hung up on. PS - when checking in for my appointment their insurance does not come up at the major hospital in our city that should have given me a clue I would have trouble with this company.

Beware this is total scam!! Stay away from this travel insurance HCCMIS! I insured my mother with HCCMIS through Insubuy.com for 5 months with plan C, supposedly the better one. She was visiting from abroad for several months. One night she developed acute abdominal pain and we ended up in the ER. Thinking she was insured and that there would be just some minimal charges that I was going to pay. However, now I am stuck with $8,200 bill, which literally is going to ruin me. HCCMIS wouldn't pay even a penny because, and that's their exuse, it turned out she didn't stay hospitalized. This is total scam! How would we know if she was going to hospitalized or not! We didn't not what was wrong with her to begin with let alone speculate further development of her situation. It is totally unfair and ill intended on this unscrupulous insurance, if it can be called that way at all.

Please stay away from ATLAS INSURANCE FROM HCC MEDICAL INSURANCE . This is the worst insurance i have seen and this is my first insurance for my parents who are listed from India . My Mother Visited ARC Hospital in Austin In July 2014 for her severe stomach pain and Dr. Examined her and then prescribed Medicine for Diverticulitis . After that HCC has sent a claim form which i have filled and sent back to then and now HCC has sent an Explanation of Benefit for Claim saying saying Reason Code # 86 which mens This file has been closed due to lack of requested information from our Provider . I was searching other websites like IMMIHELP,INSUBUY and saw the same review like HCC MEDICAL INSURANCE always deny customers claims even though we provide all information . It is like they will always try to harass us wherever possible . My sincere request from my experience is that , don't buy this insurance and also don't buy this from INSUBUY who acts as an agent who will not support when you are in need .

HCC stalls paying medical bills

We have HCC Medical and it is a nightmare. We have started seeing hospital bills going to collections because HCC stalls payments for so long. We call every week to see if they have paid the bills and are always told they are waiting on a confirmation letter from us. We send those out every week when they arrive but when you call will lo and behold they have never received it. We are switching companies, DON'T LET THEM RUIN YOUR CREDIT. Denied Coverage

Never Ever go with HCC Medical services. I generally dont write negative reviews but this time I thought it would be useful for others. I had taken insurance from HCC for my parents who were visiting US. One fine day, my father felt difficulty in breathing and was sweating. These were similar symptoms that he had, when he had heart attack in 1998 (15 years back). So I rushed him into Emergency care and he was kept under observation for 1 day. Fortunately, my father was fine and doctors were not able to determine the cause of his sudden sweating. Hospital bill that I got for 1 day was around $23,000. But HCC has denied the coverage twice when I appealed. Their decision was based on the fact that the disease was chronic. HCC has a Acute Onset Policy due to which I went with them. I dont understand how can they expect a 65 years old person not to be suffering with any condition. My father had a heart attack 15 years back and he has been perfectly fine after that, I even gave Doctors proof to HCC that clearly stated that my father has not had any heart related issues after his heart attack and has been following a very healthy routine. Still HCC denied the coverage. I would seriously request you all to not go for HCC Medical services. Nobody should suffer like me. THEY ARE AWEFUL and BIG SCAM

I too got scammed by HCC ATLAS insurance sold by Square mouth inc. I was hoping to be covered just until I gto my Quebec permanent residencey last June 2015.

I extended their form of travelers "insurance" until the National insurance kicked in. I had an acute attack of diverticulits in April that required 13,000 plus dollars of antibiotice treatment in the hospital, Thank God the rest of my surgeries were paiid by Canada!!! tHE WEEK IN THE HOSPITAL WAS NOT. They said I had a "pre-existing condition" I appeale 90 and got the letter back saying I should have know I had a chronic condition!

No one told me and I was find the 4 years before I bought It!

tHEN THEY TOLD ME THEY DO NOT COVER CHRONIC CONDITIONS KNOWN OR UNKNOWN.... What a bunch of liars!!!!!

They declined my mother in law's claim. They was not ready to talk to me because of HIPPA .They did not inform me anything when I called them because I am daughter -in -law this time.But I have spoke to them 5 times before regarding purchasing , provider directory,renewal. But when time to provide money then they are rude. She was in ER for chest pain. Doctor could not find anything wrong with her ,so assumed it was gas pain .She was released after observation . She was 65 years at time of incident ,service date 1/28/2014. Explanation of benefit wrote claim declined for pre-exiting.

As you mentioned, their latest trick is to say that because of HIPAA, only the concerned person can call over phone and talk to them. Scam artists !!

I purchased the "Atlas America" insurance for my mother who will visit us for three month from China. I tried to make an appointment using the card with a Coventry/First Health in network facility. But the nurse told me they couldn't get connected using the 800 number. I tried myself. After 5 times I finally got connected. I told her the medical facility name and she said she need to verify if it is in network and let me hold. After holding 35 min I got automatically hanged up. I tried again and again and every time I got hanged up after waiting half an hour. THIS IS A SCAM. YOU WILL NEVER GET CONNECTED AND NO MEDICAL FACILITY WILL ACCEPT THIS INSURANCE IF THEY CAN NOT VERIFY IT THROUGH THE PHONE. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL NEVER GET PAID.

My personal experience outside of the US as not been like that. Therefore it is NOT a scam.

As far as I remember at that time (july 2014) they were changing their call center leaving the provider from Toronto (terrible service), now working much better. Any company have good and bad things, and may be HCCMIS have weak points but it is not a Scam.

HCCMIS - total disappointment

I had bought their Atlas Travel Insurance. I got sick and had to go to the hospital. All I got from them afterwards was a one-sentence statement: This condition is not covered due to pre-existing limitation. My case certainly was not a pre-existing condition so I submitted a formal appeal letter. They didn't even care to give me any kind of reply or whatsoever. They have simply ignored my appeal !!! I'm shocked with such unfair treatment. I cannot understand why this company is ignoring their customers. Perhaps, this is their policy. I will never buy health insurance from this company again !!!

HCCMIS is SCAM!!!!!!!!!

The worst inusurance company ever!!! My mom had this insurance for refugees. She never used but one day she was bleeding and she had pelvic pain and we went to the doctor. I'm 27 and my mom got a contraceptive when i was born 27 years ago, so that was in her for more than 27 years and it was the cause of the pain. The doctor told her to put it out and she ask him to check first if the insurance covered that. This insurance for refugees is supposed to be full cover and with no deductible. After the procedure the insurance refusee to pay it. The doctor even sent them a letter to explain how necessary was this procedure. But they said that they don't cover procedures for pregnancy. My mom is 50 and she was in pain. She was not trying to get pregnant. Now the hospital is asking her to pay an expensive bill, and she have been in this country for less than a year. I'm still calling to the customer services of HCC but they are mean, like really mean all the time. I got always the same representative Julio or Cesar and they never have anwsers. Now Julio told that they still checking the case, but they probably won't cover the procedure. They got the letter and the claim from the doctor till October. They did not do ANYTHING about it. Then I got a letter from the hospital trying to send my mom to collection. I call the insurance and they told me to that they had a letter from the a doctor with a claim what they don't have a formal appeal from my mom.. REALLY!!! I fill the appeal form and I sent it to them. ANYWAY I'm really upset about the way if this company to work with costumers. In this country sadly the health care is something shameful, but health insurances companies like this one just make the things more disgraceful. Now Im trying to get a decent heath care for my and my parents with the new Health Care of the government. But i won't recommend ANYONE to pay any cent for being covered for this HCC company. They are just insensitive people trying to get money out of people like refugees, students, visitors... IF anyone here knows other places where i can call because i dont want to speak again with Julio or Cesar or any of the mean representatives of this company please let me know. Denied Claim

We purchased a health insurance coverage from this company with minor pain...went to the hospital and doctor diagnosed with stone...now insurance is claiming that since pain happened before, it is deemed as pre-existing condition and refusing to pay the claims. They took $1100 insurance money and is not paying a single dime to the hospital. The patient had no prior knowledge of stone in his body ever...but they consider pain as a preexisting system...are you kidding me??? This company needs to be shut for taking away people's hard earned money and denying service... This company is not only unethical, it is a scam. RUN AWAY from this company....this company needs to be shut down for running unethical practices...

Auto Accident Claim not willing to settle after submitting all documents

I met with Auto Accident and had some medical treatments done. I have submitted all the receipts and documents, even more documents then it was asked. But they keep on repeating themselves as incomplete documents submitted. It is like a recorder, keeps on repeating again and again. They not at all courteous to answer your call properly neither give you a call, if anything is missing in your documents. Getting reimburse for medical bill from HCCMIS is just like getting a bone from Dog. Sorry to insult Dog's. But These guys are worst then Dogs. PLEASE DO NOT BUY YOUR INSURANCE FROM HCCMIS.

Denied emergency medical care

My father-in-law had to admitted to the emergency care for acute pain in his chest. The insurance company denied the coverage stating this as "pre-exisiting" medical condition and kept arguing with me how I don't understand how policy works etc. and became very rude. Basically they are using all means possible to deny paying any money and do not want to reimburse anything using "pre-existing" condition as a reason. If you all want to waste your money, this insurance is for you, if not, please consider another well behaved insurance companies The emergency care is so expensive in united states and we are suffering for making bad decisions of buying insurance from this company

Just from you what you written in your posts, declining a claim for a flu sickness as a routine visit does not make sense and IMG or any other company we work with would not decline the claims like that.

Of course, I assume that you didn't already have a flu and then you purchased the insurance. But, we need more information from you to understand the situation. Many times, the problem is nothing like what the complainant describes. Sometimes, the doctor or hospital makes the mistake in billing the insurance company correctly.

Sometimes, it is entirely a different problem.

I see INSUBUY and IMGLOBAL have been extensively advertising so I wanted to CAUTION those who are planning to buy insurance from those companies.

I am in the US for a Dept of State funded Fellowship Program. My wife and son visited me for 6 months.

I have purchased insurance from International Medical Group (IMGLOBAL.COM) through INSUBUY.COM for my visiting son (3 years old) for 6 six months. I wanted to purchase a, what they call, comprehensive plan for piece of mind and went for the expensive 0 deductible one. The exact plan was Patriot America which we paid around $400. First of all they are very efficient and approachable when it comes to TAKING YOUR MONEY.

However, when you try to reach them for the services you paid for, it becomes impossible to find someone to talk to.

In January my son had a very long lasting flu with high fevers. We spent days of sleepless nights as a family. Eventually we decided to go to the hospital since we started to worry since it lasted more than 20 days. We contacted the hospital in advance to confirm coverage which they did.

Anyway, we went to the hospital. The doctor told the flu is in its final stages so did not prescribe medicine. Total bill was around $500.

IMGLOBAL REFUSED TO PAY SINCE THEY CLAIMED IT WAS A ROUTINE VISIT. They did not pay a single cent!

We tried to communicate them to describe the situation but no use.

The second surprise came when my family left earlier than planned. We thought we should cancel the plan since we did not use any of their services. This was part of the cancellation policy.

We naively thought we could get a small amount (around $30) back. And you know what happened. THEY DECLINED OUR CANCELLATION REQUEST STATING WE HAD FILED A CLAIM!!! We wrote to them stating that they did not pay anything for us so they should honor their contract.

My final words: NEVER EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM INSUBUY OR IMGLOBAL.

Don’t try read the fine print, because they will find a way anyway.

Also do not pay attention to the glowing reviews online which are probably written by their employees. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE WRITING A REVIEW JUST LIKE THIS.

This is a total scam. After finally admitting they received my documents. (It took over 2 weeks to get from their mail room), over 8 weeks of review said they told me they sent a letter 2 weeks ago that I still haven't received. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! This is a scam! I have several medical departments sending me bills every month that are starting to go to collection. At the best this company is incompetent. But it looks, feels, smells dishonest. There are many complaints just like this one on the web. Keep searching they are not hard to find.

Stay away from HCCMIS and Atlas travel insurance

All the other reviews that you will find for Atlas service are either fake or from people who have not filed claim.. or seems to be given by HCCMIS people themselves..

If you were to file a claim.. They will respond to you after a year when the hospital were to already send the matter to collection.. the whole turn around period has been around 1 year.. They denied the claim after 1 year of beating around the bush stating " This condition is not covered due to Pre-existing limitation".

It had no further communication what so ever, they did not even send the explanation of benefit under which it was denied. HCCMIS – Atlas program is really a horrible program from a horrible company.. there is no point buying an insurance when you need it, and its not there even though you pay so much.. They will keep delaying the paper work..

saying we have not received paper work from hospital only after a year they will say we have rejected the claim.. I read other cases too where real people really struggled with claim settlement.

All I can say is I am having the same problems everyone has posted on here. Claims being denied, run around about documents needed to approve claims.

I have documented everything phone calls emails and provided everything they have asked for. I am told I can't talk to a claim adjustor and or even supervisor. Escalations have been submitted with no follow up calls from them. I was told the legal department would call me, after a week of no call I followed up.

I was then told their legal will only talk to my attorney. I am at a complete loss now. I am handling this for my father. This is his policy he had a massive heartattack in August.

I have shielded him from this stress so he could recover. But now his Drs want payment as they are due. Has anyone had any sucesse? What I am reading is very discouraging with the Drs bills piling up I am worried they will now refuse treatment.

He purchased insurance to cover events like this. Anyone have tips, advise on how to resolve this?

Filing lawsuit early in may of this year for breach of the contract and fraud. This company is absolute scambags, avoid dealing with them at all costs.

Never picked up the phone when in need. Did not reimburse the total amount.

HCCMIS is a total *** service visitor's insurance. I paid hefty amount (1400$) for the insurance of my father in law. But when my father in law, was not feeling well, we tried to find a provider and the HCCMIS guys won't even pick up the phone. We went to the doctor's office with the insurance information and the doctor's office also tried to contact them. The call would always be on hold and we were never able to reach them. Ultimately my father in law was not able to see the doctor after paying 1400$... Can you believe? Also they didn't give me reimbursement when my father in law left early. Very very bad service and they will make a killing of you. Stay away from them.

Exactly the same for me. HCCMIS is scam. This company is a fake. I booked my travel insurance with HCCMIS. I got sick while traveling so I called them asking for instructions before visiting the doctor. They told me to go directly to the hospital, to pay the doctor in advance and to get the receip after that. Back to home, I summited to HCCMIS all the required information - doctor's diagnosis, treatment and hospital invoice. Since time went by I complained them about an answer. First answer was they hadn't received my letter with all documents yet so I emailed them again. They didn't answer me in a while so again I contacted them. They asked me for a new email and so I emailed them again.

I did a follow up with them time after time and their final answer was they won't pay me a dime because a "duplicate submission".

HCC Insurance lied me time after time. HCC Insurance is fake, unprofessional that has swindled me. I felt tricked by HCCMIS.

DO NOT TRUST HCCMISS.

saying we have not received paper work from hospital only after a year they will say we have rejected the claim.. I read other cases too where real people really struggled with claim settlement.
